Welcome to the home page of the American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists, Inc. (AASP). AASP was established in 1967 by a group of 31 founding members to promote the science of palynology in academia and industry. Today AASP has a world-wide membership of about 600 and is run by an executive comprising an elected Board of Directors and subsidiary boards and committees. AASP welcomes new individuals as members who are interested in the science of palynology and institutional members who wish to receive our publications.

Deadlines for the 2002 London meeting are rapidly approaching. The registration deadline is July 26, 2002 and the third circular with meeting details and the registration form is attached to the current newsletter.

AASP maintains a modest scholarship program for the support of research in palynology. Deadline for submission is March 31, 2001.

Publications

The AASP Foundation publishes the journal Palynology (annually), the AASP Newsletter (quarterly), and the AASP Contributions Series (mostly monographs, issued irregularly), as well as several books and miscellaneous items. Find instructions to authors for preparing manuscripts to be sent to the journal in addition to several years of contents and abstracts of Palynology.

Meetings

AASP organises an annual meeting which includes technical sessions where research results are presented on all aspects of palynology. Meetings also include a business luncheon, social events, and often field trips. Registration forms, instructions for abstract preparation and meeting circulars and details can be found here. Notices of other meetings of interest to members can also be found, in addition to on-line versions of prior meeting programs and abstracts.

Web Resources

In keeping with its goals of promoting the science of palynology, AASP is building a web palynology portal with collected educational and research-oriented information on palynology that is available on the internet.
